When we think about play as an aspect of life, most of us think about children. But play is not just essential for kids; adults benefit in many ways from having fun in their leisure time. Oh, you don’t have any leisure time? Well, that is a problem! In our hectic lives, most of us focus so heavily on work and family commitments that we never seem to have time for pure fun. If we do take some time for ourselves, we tend to zone out in from of a screen rather than having some playtime. But that is wrong, because play can fuel your imagination, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and emotional well-being.
As author and play guru Bernie De Koven (see some articles below) writes in his book A Playful Path, it’s about “trusting our playfulness, believing in our playfulness, having faith in our playfulness, letting ourselves be guided by our playfulness—because our playfulness will lead us back to life itself.”
